Faculty (Former)

To Our Former Faculty:

You are the ones who built the Shorter that we love.  It was your caring, your encouraging, your nurturing, that year after year sent Shorter students to their graduation ceremonies well equipped to be good citizens of the world. For that, we are forever grateful.

The current faculty is most assuredly facing a far more hostile, anti-intellectual administration than was present when you were there. We are seeing long-tenured, highly-respected faculty resigning, staff being fired without cause and students becoming increasingly bewildered as they watch everything they knew about the Christian grace of Shorter being destroyed.

We are asking you to become involved. We know you care for this institution, and she needs you.

We value your stories of the Shorter you knew. Whether you are a part of the first wave that left after the GBC takeover or whether you taught at a time that Shorter’s values were not called in question, we need your views. If you would be willing to share your story, please contact us.

Become involved with Save Our Shorter. You earned a great deal of respect as a professor or administrator and  your name lends a great deal of weight to our cause.

Reach out in support to current faculty. There are many that for various reasons are not able to leave. They need to know that they are not forgotten. They need to be reassured that Shorter has moved away from them. They have not moved away from Shorter.
